Imaging with Electromagnetic Waves in Terminating Waveguides

چکیده
Abstract. We study an inverse scattering problem for Maxwell’s equations in terminating waveguides, where localized reflectors are to be imaged using a remote array of sensors. The array probes the waveguide with waves and measures the scattered returns. The mathematical formulation of the inverse scattering problem is based on the electromagnetic Lippmann-Schwinger integral equation and an explicit calculation of the Green tensor. The image formation is carried with reverse time migration and with l1 optimization.

Azimuthally Non-Symmetric Surface Waves Propagating in Metal Waveguides Filled with Isotropic Plasma
The paper is devoted to the theory of eigen electromagnetic waves propagating across the axis of symmetry in waveguides with a non-circular cross-section. The case of waveguides filled with isotropic cold plasma is studied theoretically. Plasma particles motion is described in fluid approximation; expressions for the waves’ fields are derived from Maxwell equations. Cross-section of the studied...
متن کاملGuiding, bending, and splitting of electromagnetic waves in highly confined photonic crystal waveguides
We have experimentally demonstrated the guiding, bending, and splitting of electromagnetic ~EM! waves in highly confined waveguides built around three-dimensional layer-by-layer photonic crystals by removing a single rod. Full transmission of the EM waves was observed for straight and bended waveguides. We also investigated the power splitter structures in which the input EM power could be effi...
متن کاملGaussian beams in hollow metal waveguides: experiment.
Gaussian beams have been widely used for propagating electromagnetic waves in free space and in certain other optical systems. It has been suggested that recurring forms of such beams might also be useful for propagation in planar or rectangular metal waveguides. Experimental verification of the recurrence of the Gaussian field distribution in metal waveguides is reported here.
متن کاملPlasmonic crystal waveguides
We study the properties of electromagnetic waves propagating along the waveguides with a periodic core created by alternating metal and dielectric layers, the so-called quasi-one-dimensional plasmonic crystal waveguides. Such waveguides can be symmetric or asymmetric, depending on the cladding or substrate material properties, as well as on the termination of the periodic structure. We analyze ...
متن کاملLow-loss multimode interference couplers for terahertz waves
The terahertz (THz) frequency region of the electromagnetic spectrum is located between the traditional microwave spectrum and the optical frequencies, and offers a significant scientific and technological potential in many fields, such as in sensing, in imaging and in spectroscopy. Waveguiding in this intermediate spectral region is a major challenge. Amongst the various THz waveguides suggest...
